Vets Plus, Inc. Announces Expanded Executive Team

Vets Plus, Inc. announces several new appointments by its board of directors to strengthen its executive team. Paul R. Hays is appointed Chief Executive Officer, Dave Nelson as Chief Operating Officer, Adam Mrozowsky as Chief Financial Officer, and Colette McCharen as Vice President of Sales. “We are thrilled that Colette, Adam, and Paul have decided to bring their talents to the Vets Plus team”, said Eric Moore, Board Director and Principal at DW Healthcare Partners. “Our ability to recruit executives of this caliber is reflective of the opportunities we have in front of us at Vets Plus. The board looks forward to working with each of them to expand our business and to better serve our customers in the years to come.” Founder and Board Director Raj Lall added, “These additions to our executive team and the experience they bring greatly enhance our ability to realize the next phase of growth.”

Paul Hays joined Vets Plus as CEO on October 17. Mr. Hays has over 35 years’ experience in the animal health industry, 20 of which were while in chief executive roles. Those roles included Med-Pharmex, Inc., where he was recruited to remediate FDA concerns and lead the sale of the business; Virbac Corporation, where he expanded their North American commercial footprint and led significant improvements to their Quality Management System; and Synbiotics Corporation, hallmarked by a financial turnaround and sale to Pfizer Animal Health, where he led its integration into their global business as an executive team member; and Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. Earlier in his career, Mr. Hays was responsible for Boehringer Ingelheim’s international business and leading their entry into the US swine and equine markets. He was part of the US startup for CIBA Animal Health (later, Novartis) and began his career as a sales representative for Coopers Animal Health (formerly, Jen-Sal). Mr. Hays is active on several corporate boards and earned a bachelor’s degree in animal science from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He and his wife of 39 years enjoy the outdoors, theater, and spending time with their two adult children.

Dave Nelson, MBA, CPA, is a native of Wisconsin and has 20 years of executive experience leading manufacturing businesses serving the animal health industry. Mr. Nelson has a proven track record of delivering significant shareholder value creation through M&A, revenue growth, and cost and margin improvement. Mr. Nelson is an active member of the community and industry, serving as a board member and officer on several charitable, civic, and industry associations. Mr. Nelson joined Vets Plus in 2015 as a member of the executive leadership team which continues to propel Vets Plus through transformative growth. When not at work, Mr. Nelson and his wife of 31 years enjoy traveling and spending time at their Wisconsin lake home.

Adam Mrozowsky began his career as an auditor with Plante Moran, followed by several years with TRW Automotive, where he held several positions, including a period as a Plant Controller. Prior to joining Vets Plus, Mr. Mrozowsky was the Chief Financial Officer at Mopec, where he helped lead the company through a sustained period of growth during which annual revenue increased from $17M to $50M+. Mr. Mrozowsky was also CFO of Tru Family Dental, where he helped the organization grow from six dental offices to over 20. He has also served as the Finance Director and Corporate Controller for North American Bancard, one of the largest and fastest-growing merchant service providers in the country. Mr. Mrozowsky is a CPA and Certified M&A Advisor with degrees from Michigan State University and Walsh College. He is based out of metro Detroit where he enjoys spending time with his wife, Jennie, and their 11-year-old son, Elijah.

Colette McCharen brings 25+ years of experience in sales, marketing, and customer support in the US animal health industry to Vets Plus. Ms. McCharen has a proven track record of identifying and creating profitable business opportunities, qualifying authentic prospects, and cultivating strong partnerships. She was previously at Virbac Corporation, where she led the company’s expansion from the Veterinary Practice sector into the Pet Retail sector, where she was responsible for significant growth. Her expertise in team leadership and development will play a key role in VPI’s future growth plan. She is a native Texan, where she resides with her husband and two sons.
