Summary of the Position:

The Research & Development (R&D) Intern will gain valuable hands-on experience in the development of animal supplement products. This role supports the commercialization process by assisting in formulation, product costing, and scientific research. The intern will work closely with cross-functional teams to help bring innovative, high-quality products to market while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and performance expectations.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Product Development

  • Gather and organize nutritional data related to animal supplement products to support development and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations.
  • Maintain laboratory workspace and equipment to ensure compliance with operational standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of product prototypes and internal tests.
  • Support palatability trials to evaluate animal acceptance.
  • Help develop label text in accordance with product category and regulatory guidelines of NASC and AAFCO.
  • Develop or improve methods and SOPs for products and processes in response to internal requests or evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Support the development and documentation of product finalization to meet performance, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Work with cross-functional teams including Operations, Quality, Purchasing, and Regulatory.
  • Other tasks as determined by the supervisor.
Minimum Requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a high attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be proficient in Windows Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Analytical ability to perform research tasks and design plans for product development.
  • Ability to work comfortably with cats and dogs.
Education and Experience:
  • Pursuing a degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field.
